Fallon Follows His Fluff Trump Interview by Giving Clinton Softballs – Literally

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had some fun with Jimmy Fallon last night on The Tonight Show, which included giving a not-so-subtle reference to the funnyman’s very recent interview with Donald Trump.

Soon after joking with Clinton about her recent health scare, Fallon asked for her help in going through a bag of stuff Trump accidentally left in the green room when he taped a show there last week. Pulling out a brown paper bag, one of the first things Fallon found was a heart-framed picture of Trump’s political bromance partner: Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Another thing Fallon pulled out was a copy of Pink Floyd’s The Wall, which prompted Clinton to promise that “That’s about as close as he’s gonna get to the [Mexican border] wall.” Eventually, Clinton got hold of the bag and she found that Trump left one last thing behind: a literal bag of softballs.

“That was my gift to him,” Fallon said, “I’ll give them to you later in the interview.”

When Trump appeared with Fallon last week, quite a few people were upset with the Tonight Show host for humanizing Trump instead of offering any kind of challenge for his controversial politics. Fallon, for his part, brushed off the criticism on Sunday by explaining that he’s never a hard interviewer on any of his guests.
