Fmr. Bush Chief of Staff: Even W Wouldn’t Have Invaded Iraq with Current Knowledge

Speaking on Morning Joe Wednesday morning, former White House Chief of Staff to George W Bush Andy Card said that even W would have fielded the Iraq War question better than 2016 hopeful Jeb Bush did last week, and, though it was partially covered up by crosstalk, that Bush would not have invaded Iraq knowing then what he knows now.

“I think he heard the question that he answered, he didn’t hear the real question that was asked,” Card said of Jeb. “I don’t think George W Bush would say knowing now he would have made that decision.”

The narrative that the Bush administration was misled by bad intelligence into the Iraq War is disputed by those who argued it in fact cherry-picked from bad intelligence to make the case.

Host Joe Scarborough asked why it took four days for Jeb Bush to clean up his gaffe. “It shouldn’t have taken him that long,” Card said. “I don’t think it would have taken his brother that long to clean it up.”

Then, like a pro, Card pivoted to Hillary Clinton.
