Fox Anchor Confronts O’Malley: Why Didn’t You List ISIS as a Priority During Debate?
Fox News anchor Shannon Bream spoke with Martin O’Malley after the Democratic debate tonight and wasted no time in asking about O’Malley his struggles to get enough time to discuss his ideas. Bream eventually turned the conversation to whether the Democratic debates have focused enough on foreign policy matters.
“There was a question what you would tackle––your top priorities in your first 100 days of your presidency,” Bream began. “How come there was no mention of foreign policy, of ISIS, of the threat that voting and polls continue to show us that’s at the top of the worry list for voters. Why wasn’t that in your top three?”
O’Malley answered that the question was focused on proposed initiatives of the candidates, rather than priorities, and that there were other issues conductive to national security that also needed addressing (climate change was one example he gave).
“I am glad to go toe to toe to answer homeland security. I am better prepared in terms of combating lone wolves in the homeland,” O’Malley responded. “The first job of the Commander-in-Chief is to protect the people of the United States… I was glad to talk about those questions as well. I believe the call of the question was about domestic initiatives.”
