Fox Host Asks Ron DeSantis How Zohran Mamdani Is Benefitting ‘Florida Real Estate’ as New Yorkers Flee for ‘Peace and Solace’

Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade asked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) about the benefits his state’s real estate is seeing thanks to a mayoral race in New York City.

DeSantis joined Kilmeade on Fox News on Wednesday, and at one point, Kilmeade argued many New Yorkers are looking to flee the city for sunnier skies thanks to Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani leading by double digits in most polls against former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa.

Fox News polling from this month showed Mamdani leading the race with 52% support, while Cuomo and Sliwa trailed with 28% and 14%, respectively.

“A lot of people are saying if you’re in New York, the place to go for solace and peace and the chance- and promise has been Florida. The numbers don’t lie. What has his candidacy since he won the nomination, two weeks away from the election, what has it done for Florida real estate?” Kilmeade asked.

The Fox News host cited a report from July showing that South Florida real estate agents saw a 50% increase in web traffic after Mamdani received his party’s nomination. He also cut to a clip of Eric Trump blasting New York City’s current mayoral race while praising DeSantis for his efforts to nix property taxes (which will be up for a vote next year in the Sunshine State).

DeSantis said he expects Florida properties to see a surge of interest, thanks to Mamdani.

The governor argued:

Well, I guess talk to us in a couple weeks. It will probably cause Palm Beach to go up for sure. I look back and think we’re not even 25 years removed from September 11. It was universal in that city and around the country, you know, never again, we were never going to go down this road. And then you’ve got a guy who is sympathetic with communism, Islamism and he’ll get elected mayor in this city. I think it is a disgrace, but I also think it shows New York City hasn’t hit rock bottom. Remember New York City under Giuliani and after that, how it’s gone south with DeBlasio. This guy makes DeBlasio look like Reagan. I mean, like, he is far left of that. When you want to disband NYPD, those rank and file officers, those are blue-collar, hard working people. They are not going to want to work for a guy like this. I think you’re going to see a lot of turmoil and I think that it’ll show the city will further go down.
