Fox Host Says Nation’s Enemies Are Watching Trump’s Parade: ‘Does It Put Fear in Their Hearts?’
President Donald Trump celebrated his 79th birthday on Saturday with a military parade to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Army.
The event came on a tumultuous day that featured a political assassination, massive nationwide protests, and volleys of airstrikes between Israel and Iran.
For Fox News, the parade was the main story on Saturday evening, and the network featured dedicated hosts Lawrence Jones and Emily Compagno tasked with covering it. The two were joined at one point by former Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf.
Jones asked the former secretary what kind of message the parade sends to America’s enemies abroad.
“What does this say to our enemies as well?” he asked. “Because they’re watching. They’re always watching. Does it put fear in their hearts knowing that this is a president that is willing to rebuild the military, right?”
“Yeah, no doubt,” Wolf replied. “I think with President Trump, as we saw during his first term, we were the most secure, the most safe as a country that we have been. Obviously, we’re in a very dangerous world as we see the events overseas and elsewhere happening. But I think our adversaries around the world know President Trump means business and back[s] up what he says. Ultimately, though, he’s a peacemaker. And he wants to see peace around the world. But peace through strength, right? And the United States Army and what you see out there today is that strength that backs up that peace.”
