Fox News Host Gushes Over ICE Prison in Newark: ‘Better Than a Lot of American High Schools’

Fox & Friends Weekend host Rachel Campos-Duffy marveled at the cleanliness of an ICE detention facility in Newark, NJ, as she toured the prison at the center of protests and rage.

Campos-Duffy toured Delaney Hall in a segment that aired Tuesday on Fox & Friends, days after Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested there during a protest at the facility.

But despite the tensions surrounding the prison — including allegations of inhumane conditions and lack of proper permits — Campos-Duffy said she was “impressed” by it, and said ICE has “nothing to be ashamed of.”

“They’re better than a lot of American high schools in terms of cleanliness, orderliness, activities,” she told Fox & Friends co-host Ainsley Earhardt. “I was actually very impressed.”

Delaney Hall, which can hold up to 1,000 detainees, has been the subject of protests by lawmakers, activists, and clergy members since it reopened earlier this month. About 152 migrants are held there at present, according to Campos-Duffy’s report.

Baraka was briefly detained Friday night after he allegedly failed to comply with orders by the Department of Homeland Security to leave. Other lawmakers present during that protest were New Jersey Reps. Bonnie Watson ColemanRob Menendez Jr., and LaMonica McIver, all Democrats.

“Members of Congress storming into a detention facility goes beyond a bizarre political stunt and puts the safety of our law enforcement agents and detainees at risk,” Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement at the time. “Members of Congress are not above the law and cannot illegally break into detention facilities. Had these members requested a tour, we would have facilitated a tour of the facility.”
