Fox’s Karl Rove Says Trump Only Needs to Win 1 of Georgia, Pennsylvania or Michigan to Take the White House
Fox News’ Karl Rove argued former President Donald Trump path to 270 electoral college votes may be easier than some imagine in battleground states.
Rove joined Fox News anchors Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino on Tuesday to break down on a hypothetical electoral map how he believes swing states will go. Rove admitted the races are tight, but argued polling and early voting in states like North Carolina, Arizona, and Nevada have been positive for Trump and with those three states, he could afford to only win one of a trio of tight contest states: Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
“If he wins Georgia, the race is over. If he wins Pennsylvania and loses Georgia, the race is over, because if he does take Nevada, Arizona, and North Carolina, it gets him within basically either — 15 or 19 state electoral votes; Michigan, Georgia is 16, Pennsylvania [is] 19. Any one of them puts him over the top,” Rove said.
He noted that there are a significant amount of independent voters in North Carolina and it’s unpredictable where they might land on election day. Trump won North Carolina in 2020 by 1.34%. President Joe Biden narrowly won Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania that year.
“Each side has a reason to believe they can do this because the race is so close. Take a look at this. We’re talking about three tenths of a percent if you look at some of these aggregate averages in battleground states,” Rove said.
The former White House chief of staff added that there can still be mess ups that lose potential voters in the last days of the election, pointing to a controversial joke told by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at a Trump event at Madison Square Garden. Hinchcliffe referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.”
“Think about it, 4% of the population of the voters of Pennsylvania are Puerto Rican, how do you think they reacted today about the comment at the rally by the comic at Madison Square Garden on Sunday?” Rove said. “I mean, this is how — little things can have a big impact in a race this close.”
