Fox’s Maria Bartiromo Reminds Fuming House Republican Abrego Garcia Was Imprisoned By ‘Mistake’
Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo spoke to Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-TX) on Friday about the ongoing saga surrounding Kilmar Abrego Garcia and reminded Van Duyne during her attack on Democrats that Abrego Garcia had indeed been deported and imprisoned in El Salvador “by mistake.” Van Duyne, in her comments, also compared Abrego Garcia to an American hostage still being held by Hamas, while taking a swipe at her political opponents.
“Meanwhile, Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen met and shook hands with the alleged MS-13 gang member, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, in El Salvador. The Senator traveled to El Salvador on Wednesday. He’s been pushing to bring Garcia back to Maryland after the Supreme Court ordered the U.S. to facilitate his release,” Bartiromo began, adding:
The Trump administration says Garcia was wrongly deported due to an administrative error. Van Hollen writes this on X, “I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had the chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.”
Then there’s Arizona congresswoman Yasmin Ansari says she’s also headed to El Salvador. She says, quote, “Our rights shouldn’t be revoked to propagate Trump’s authoritarian agenda. My parents fled an authoritarian regime in Iran where people disappeared. I refuse to sit back and watch it happen here, too.” Three other House Democrats are requesting a congressional delegation to El Salvador. Congresswoman, your thoughts.
“I hope they take a 757 during votes, and they take them all down there. Then they can go ahead and they can try to get more folks who have beat their wives, who have been stopped for human trafficking. They’re picking the wrong fights. You know, you’ve got an American citizen right now who’s being held by Hamas in Gaza. Where’s their outrage there?” Van Duyne replied, seemingly equating Hamas terrorists to the authorities that arrested Abrego Garcia. She added:
I think they’re picking the wrong fights. We have got to work on the 20 million people who have entered our country illegally over the last four years. You’ve got Tom Homan, you’ve got Kristi Noem, who are doing their job. They are enforcing the laws. And when we’ve got sanctuary city policies that are enabling these people to stay, that are committing crimes, I want to see their outrage for the victims’ families, who have been murdered, who have been raped as a direct result of illegal migration.
Instead, what they’re doing is they are protecting a person who came here illegally. Who has been accused of beating his wife, and that’s the state that they’re willing to die on. If that’s a hill they wanna go on, God bless them.
“So I mean, look, it was a mistake, the administration said it was a mistake,” Bartiromo interjected.
“It might have been a mistake, but they’re picking the one straw out of an entire barnful. And what we need to focus on is the 20 million that were allowed to enter here, people on the terrorist watch list, people from drug cartels. And that’s what this administration, you can pull one example out, but if that is literally the person that they’re going to hail as their savior for this, I think it’s a mistake,” Van Duyne added, sticking to her attack on the Democrats while ignoring the Supreme Court’s ruling.
“Yeah, it’s incredible actually,” Bartiromo agreed.
