Geraldo Rivera Says Cohen Could Pose ‘Significant Threat’ to Trump: Trump Tower Meeting ‘Could be Collusion’
While discussing the infamous Trump Tower meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and Russians that Michael Cohen reportedly claims the president knew about in advance, Fox News correspondent Geraldo Rivera said the incident “could be collusion” — an admission he made on Donald Trump’s favorite morning show Fox & Friends.
“I think it is a big deal,” Rivera told Fox News host Brian Kilmeade.
“Michael Cohen represents a significant legal threat to the president,” Rivera he continued. “We all have one key person we tell all of our life story to, in President Trump’s case he trusted Michael Cohen, he was his fixer for many years and now I think he has been cut from the Trump team and he’s feeling reckless and he’s even able to do low-down and dirty things like release that tape — that secret tape.”
Rivera called it “unethical” for Cohen to record Trump without his knowledge about the payment to squash a Playboy model’s affair allegation.
He added that the release of the tape, in which Trump appears to advocate paying “cash” to the model, is “very, very significant” as it proves “they’re willing to do that they’re willing to do almost anything.”
However, Rivera still believes Trump is not at the highest risk of anyone caught in the Mueller probe, as his son “testified to Congress under oath that the president did not know of the meeting” at Trump Tower, which puts him in the most trouble.
“Let’s say [Trump] knew of the meeting and approved of the meeting and then got some information or something else the value from the meeting that he used against Hillary Clinton, that could be collusion,” Rivera added. “Whether or not it’s illegal, it might be a campaign finance violation, for example, but you can see in the broadness of the scope of possibilities, Michael Cohen does represent, for all his sleaziness, a significant threat to the president.”
In light of Cohen claiming that the then-candidate had prior knowledge about the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting, Trump went on a tweetstorm this morning claiming he “did NOT” know about it.
