Glenn Beck Expresses Solidarity, Officially Declares Himself a ‘Rodeo Clown’
On his radio show this morning, Glenn Beck addressed the controversy over a Missouri State Fair rodeo clown dressed as President Obama by declaring himself to be a rodeo clown.
The rodeo clown who wore the controversial Obama mask has been banned for life from the state fair, but demands have emerged for clown associations to go one step further and ban the man from membership as well. Beck suggested that should the associations go through with such a ban, they would “forever damage rodeos,” potentially “shutting them down” because the “clear-thinking, common-sense farmers, cowboys, straight-ahead Americans” would stop attending out of disgust with the “politically-correct” decision.
Beck then suggested that liberals outraged by the clown’s act are trying to muzzle free speech because “they’re terrified” in knowing that “[the country] is about to fall apart.”
“They know this thing is falling apart,” he told his audience. “That’s why they’re going after the rodeo clown. They’re freaking out. Good! Advance, America. Advance! Don’t you dare retreat. Don’t you dare sit down.”
“Today, I declare myself officially a rodeo clown,” the host concluded. “We are all rodeo clowns.”
Oddly enough, this is not the first time Beck has declared himself to be a rodeo clown. In 2009, he proudly told the New York Times he sees himself as one with “great skill.”
