GMA Pays Tearful Tribute To Robin Roberts Before Medical Leave
Good Morning America co-host Robin Roberts said goodbye Thursday morning to her cast and crew before taking medical leave to get treated for MDS, a rare blood and bone-marrow disorder.
Roberts, who has previously beaten breast cancer, will be absent from the host chair for several months while she receives a bone-marrow transplant from her sister.
Surrounded by the cast and crew of GMA, co-host Josh Elliott delivered a tearful tribute to Roberts, and executive producer Tom Cibrowski presented her with a tribute book.
Country musician Martina McBride capped off the tribute with a performance of “I’m Gonna Love You Through It,” as tears streamed from Roberts’ eyes and her co-hosts held hands.
