‘Go, Go, Go, Go!’ MSNBC Reporter Ushers Protester Away From Oncoming Mounted Police

MSNBC correspondent Jacob Soboroff was just beginning to interview a protester in Los Angeles when a line of police suddenly began bearing down on them.

Protests were held across the country on Saturday as part of the “No Kings” movement against President Donald Trump, who has ordered crackdowns on undocumented immigrants. Last week, federal agents conducted a slew of raids in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas to arrest and deport those living in the country illegally. Agents have targeted garment shops, farms, Home Depot parking lots, and other workplaces.

While standing on an overpass, Soboroff spoke one protester who slammed Trump, calling him “a fucking felon.” About three hours later, in another live hit, he provided an update that turned into a mad dash.

“If you look down the road here, you can see many vehicles from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol,” he said. “These are officers obviously dressed in their tactical gear for the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. The Los Angeles Police Department has formed a line on the other side of the street. And what they’ve done is where we were before, where the Marines are stationed in front of the federal building, they have essentially formed a line blocking the people who are on the inside from coming out.”

Soboroff explained that when he had seen such a setup before, it was usually followed by police advancing on protesters.

“I want to reiterate this looks very intimidating,” he said as police on horses and on foot were behind him. “This has remained 100% peaceful as far as I have seen. People are out here with their signs.”

He then turned to a young woman and asked her to show her sign to the camera.

“We are not criminals!” she said, holding up the placard with her back toward the police. At that moment, officers in tactical gear began pushing forward.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!” Soboroff said, putting his hand on her back and escorting her away from the cops. “Let’s go.”

“We’re not doing nothing wrong!” she yelled. “We have the freedom of speech!”

“Go, go, go, go!” Soboroff told her. “You have to be careful, ok? You take care of yourself.”

The reporter and the crowd kept retreating as he instructed the cameraperson to move faster.

“They’re pushing people with horses, which obviously gets people freaked,” Soboroff said. Just seconds later, the sound of flashbangs rang out.

“Let’s go!” Soboroff said as the crowd began running away.
