House Republican Caught on Hot Mic Telling GOP Colleague, ‘Go F*ck Yourself’

Chair Michael McCaul (R-TX) was caught on a hot mic taking issue with Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) during a meeting of the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Tuesday.

Issa was questioning former Joint Chiefs chair and Ret. Gen. Mark Milley in a hearing about the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. The California lawmaker went over his allotted time, which seemed to irk McCaul.

Milley had just finished answering a question from Issa, who tried to ask another question:

ISSA: And the Marines–

MCCAUL: The Gentleman’s time is expired.

ISSA: –concur with the Army in this case?

MCCAUL: The Gentleman’s time is expired. Ms. Miller-Meeks is recognized.

ISSA: Oh, I didn’t realize. Thank you.

MCCAUL: [UNINTELLIGIBLE] Keeping a five-minute–

ISSA: I thought I was done! I thought it was the closing act, Chairman.

MCCAUL: [hushed tone] Eh, go fuck yourself.

As Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks began speaking, McCaul could briefly be heard talking again, but his words are tough to understand.

McCaul did not appear to be aware his microphone was still on. His advice to Issa comes just three months before the 20th anniversary of then-Vice President Dick Cheney telling Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT), “Go fuck yourself” on the Senate floor. Leahy had taken issue with Cheney’s past tenure as CEO of Halliburton, which received lucrative contracts in Iraq after the U.S. invaded the country in 2003.

The year after Cheney told Leahy off, a man heckled Cheney at a public event by repeatedly telling him, “Go fuck yourself, Mr. Cheney.”
