‘I’m Doing My Job’: Democrats Berate Security Guard Denying Them Entry to Department of Education Building
A security guard standing outside the Department of Education was berated by Democratic lawmakers on Friday morning for denying them entry into the federal building.
A group of lawmakers protesting the changes made to the federal bureaucracy by President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk gathered outside the Department of Education Department building in Washington, D.C. on Friday. According to reports, Trump is in the process of drafting an executive order to eliminate the DOE.
Lawmakers, including Reps. Maxine Waters (D-CA) and Maxwell Frost (D-FL), demanded the security guard, who said he was a federal employee, allow them to enter the building. After being denied entry, the lawmakers claimed this was proof that the Trump administration is not being transparent.
“Are you making this decision to stand in front of the store on your own behalf, on behalf of the Department of Education, or were you told to come out here and block members of Congress,” Frost asked the stone-faced security guard to which he simply replied, “I’m doing my job.”
WATERS: Let the cameras see him! Let the cameras see him — come in I want you to see this man here — are you a federal employee?
GUARD: Yes.
WATERS: No, he said he’s a federal employee. We pay him! We raised money to make sure that we have a Department of Education for everybody that’s hard at the Department of Education are here because we pay for them to be here. He’s standing here today blocking the door, and he can’t give us a good reason why he’s blocking this door!
