Jason Jones: Brian Williams Would Make a ‘Great’ Daily Show Host

Jason Jones visited HuffPost Live on Thursday to promote his role in the new film Hot Tub Time Machine 2, but while he was there host Josh Zepps couldn’t help but ask him for his reaction to the week’s big Jon Stewart news.

First Jones pretended not to know what the host was talking about. “What do you mean?” the long-time correspondent said. “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart? Refresh me on that.”

“Here’s what I think a lot of people don’t know, is that it’s bigger than one person,” Jones said, getting more serious. “With all due to respect to [Stewart], and he is the clear editorial vision of the show. And I mean, this with the most deference paid to him, but it is a show that is so inclusive of the people who work there… They’re all such contributing members to that show, that that’s not going to go away when the next person succeeds him.”

Later in the interview, Jones gave some lightning-round style reactions to some possible replacements for Stewart, including Brian Williams, who may very well be unemployed by the time Stewart takes his leave.

“Can I be honest? Brian would be great,” he said. “He would be terrific.”
