Joe Scarborough Demands Media Stop Letting Trump Get Away With Crazy: ‘Nothing Normal’ About Hoping Economy Crashes!

Joe Scarborough argued that people need to stop being so lenient with Donald Trump whenever he makes bizarre or outrageous comments that wind up getting disregarded as “normal” behavior on his part.

On Tuesday, Scarborough led Morning Joe in talking about the new interview in which Trump hoped that the economy will crash in the next 12 months since that would make it easier for him to defeat President Joe Biden. This prompted Scarborough to bring up recurring questions among various media outlets about the smartest way of covering Trump and his various antics.

“The way the media should react to Donald Trump is to stop acting like when he says things, ‘It’s a throwaway line. Oh, it’s normal,'” Scarborough said. “There is nothing normal about Donald Trump saying that Abraham Lincoln blew it. That Abraham Lincoln should have negotiated with slaveholders and associated slavery away so he could have avoided the Civil War.”

Scarborough continued to argue that too much of what Trump says has been normalized even though “There’s nothing normal about it!” He added that Trump’s remarks are “getting crazier” by the day, so it’s “likely” that it will drive down his poll numbers over time.

“You would hope so,” said Elise Jordan. “You would hope that insane rantings that sound like someone should not be in power; rather, they should be in a straitjacket and given some kind of injection. You would hope that that would not just be dismissed by a lot of voters. But, unfortunately, as we’ve seen, there are plenty of Republican voters who are willing to look away and dismiss it just as theater, just as performance, because the polarization is so strong and they’re so against the other side. All that matters is defeating the other side.”
