Joe Scarborough Mocks MAGA’s ‘Bizarre Overreaction’ to Ossoff: ‘This is the Trump Team Being Trumped’

Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough mocked the White House for turning its fury at Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) into a multi-day news story, arguing the Trump team had managed to get “Trumped” by giving the senator exactly the attention he wanted.

The exchange came after the White House Rapid Response account attacked CNN White House correspondent Kristen Holmes following a tense Oval Office encounter with President Donald Trump.

Holmes had asked whether North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un requested that Trump scale back U.S. military exercises with South Korea.

Trump repeatedly ordered Holmes to be quiet, branded her a “fake reporter,” and criticized her as “loud” and “boisterous.”

The White House account later called Holmes “a disgraceful, humiliating embarrassment to her alleged profession” before invoking her family, declaring: “Someday, your children will come across your disgusting and inhumane question. They will be sickened and embarrassed to have a parent be so callous and vindictive. It’s quite troubling.”

Scarborough weighed in Tuesday as he and co-host Willie Geist framed the outburst as originating with the administration’s fury at Ossoff’s viral jab at aide Natalie Harp and her close relationship with the president.

The Morning Joe crew rounded on the White House’s extraordinary personal attack on Holmes and response to Ossoff.

“Yeah, like, why? I mean, why? And by the way, if they didn’t like Jon Ossoff’s speech, this is the Trump team being Trumped!” Scarborough said. “They have given Jon Ossoff three days of coverage all across not just social media, but mainstream media, by this bizarre attack against this reporter and her children. It just doesn’t really make any sense.”

He continued: “I mean, I don’t understand, but make no mistake by this, this bizarre overreaction, they’re actually giving Jon Ossoff exactly what he wants, and that is more publicity.”

Geist agreed, pointing out Ossoff had appeared on “a whole bunch of shows” across cable networks since Sunday’s rally and that the White House had given the story “another day of oxygen.”

He continued: “They’re using their testosterone-based attacks, which have become very bizarre.”

Scarborough then piled on: “From a group of people who are not the most manly people on the face of the Earth. My God, I mean, jeez!”

“Yeah, that’s a lot of beta behavior, talking about testosterone,” Geist jibed.

“Alotta beta behavior,” Scarborough repeated.
