‘Just Beyond Imagination’: CNN’s Dana Bash Horrified By Details of ‘Absolutely Senseless’ Church Shooting

CNN’s Dana Bash was left stunned by the details revealed from Wednesday’s Minneapolis shooting that left two children dead and more than a dozen wounded.

The shooting occurred on Wednesday morning at Annunciation Catholic School. At the time, students were attending mass to mark the beginning of a new school year.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara later said in a press conference that the shooter — a male in his early 20s — fired a rifle, a shotgun, and a handgun outside the school’s adjoining church. Following the shooting, he’s believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Two children, ages 8 and 10, died from the shooting. Seventeen other people — including 14 children — were wounded. Two of those children were in critical condition.

Following O’Hara’s presser, Bash remarked how “absolutely senseless” the tragedy was:

This is something that is beyond recognition. We heard the word “cowardice” multiple times from the police chief Brian O’Hara about the situation that is just absolutely senseless — senseless. And the way in which this alleged shooter conducted this killing spree is just beyond imagination.

CNN’s Isabel Rosales is following all of these breaking developments. Isabel, one of the many things that just — it’s almost impossible to repeat — that the suspect went into the church from the outside through windows. He had a rifle, shotgun, and a pistol; and he just began shooting from the outside through the window at mostly children, in a church, during the school day, praying.
