Lebron James Might Refuse to Play if Sterling Still Owns Clippers Next Season
LeBron James has been one the most vocal voices against Donald Sterling, but in an interview airing tonight on Jim Rome on Showtime, an NBA rep said that The King would unequivocally take things to the next level if Sterling was not removed from the LA Clippers by the start of next season.
“LeBron and I talked about this,” Roger Mason, Jr., vice president of the National Basketball Players Association, forcefully told Rome: “He ain’t playing if Sterling is still the owner.”
Although NBA commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling for his racist comments and the other team owners stated that they’d be willing to vote him out of the league, Sterling (and his wife Shelly) refuse to give up their ownership of the LA Clippers without a fight. Mason indicated that James and many of his fellow players would not be satisfied with Shelly Sterling in charge of the Clippers, either: “”There’s no place for that family in the NBA.”
The full interview airs tonight on Showtime at 9 p.m. ET.
