Maria Bartiromo Presses NRSC Chair Over Fundraising Struggles: ‘How Come You’re Not Keeping Up?’

Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo pressed Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) about the fundraising struggles for Senate Republicans in the upcoming election.

Recently, Democrats running in competitive Senate races in this year’s November election have out-raised their GOP challengers in the first quarter. In at least six competitive Senate races, Democrats have the fundraising advantage, increasing the party’s likelihood to remain in control of the Senate, according to Axios.

Daines currently serves as the chair for the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), which seeks to raise money to help elect Republican senators.

During a Thursday morning interview with Bartiromo, Daines claimed that the fundraising struggles were due to them having to “compete with tech billionaires” that are bankrolling left-wing political efforts.

BARTIROMO: I want to ask you about your work as the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee and your efforts to win back the Senate this November. Axios is reporting the Democrat Senate candidates are routing the GOP in fundraising. They say just about every Democrat running in competitive Senate races significantly outraised their GOP challenger in the first quarter of the year. So how do you overcome this? And if things are going so well, how come you’re not keeping up with fundraising?

DAINES: Yeah. Look, we’ve got to compete with the elite billionaires, these tech billionaires that are pouring money in to the cause for the left. It’s the same billionaires that are funding some of these pro Hamas encampments across our universities, in our great country, and we need help from the Patriots, the grassroots efforts. We have a website. It’s Senate24.com. Senate24.com. We need help. We need to have the American people showing up with $10, $20, $50 kind of contributions. That’s going to be key to get the grassroots support from the patriots, because we’ve got the right candidates in the right states at this moment. We are being outraised by the liberal elites. We’ve got to fight back.
