Mark Halperin Predicts Trevor Noah Won’t Last a Year as Daily Show Host

Given the uproar over Trevor Noah’s Twitter history, Bloomberg Politics’ Mark Halperin pondered on Wednesday afternoon whether Comedy Central should have tapped him to take over for Jon Stewart in the first place.

“The sin is not that the tweets [are] offensive, although some of them were, he’s not funny!” Halperin declared. “This guy will not have the job within a year after he starts, I predict right here, right now.”

Comedy Central made it abundantly clear yesterday that they are sticking by Noah despite calls for his head from those who were offended by jokes he made in the past about Jews, woman, LGBT people and others. So he would have to either say or do something much more egregious — or tank the ratings for The Daily Show — to lose the gig so fast.

Make sure to check back here a year from Noah’s start date to see if Halperin was right.
