Miami Journalist Describes Captivity In Libya: ‘There Is No Negotiating’
Joe Raedle, a Getty Images photographer based in Miami, was captured last month while on assignment in Libya. He was taken by forces loyal to Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi and imprisoned for four days. Speaking last night at the University of Miami, Raedle described his captivity. “There is no negotiating. You couldn’t ask questions. It was very one-way,” said Raedle.
To stay strong, Raedle says he focused on life back home in South Florida:
“You remember the things that are important in your life, what you like, what you enjoy to do everyday. Obviously, your wife is very important. You keep that in your mind.”
Raedle was released three weeks ago and has returned home to his wife Nancy, also a journalist. He spoke to Miami television station WFOR:
