Mika Brzezinski Sounds Alarm on the ‘Spread of Mini-Trumps’ Like Tommy Tuberville and ‘Republicans Caught in a Cult’

Mika Brzezinski called on Democrats to more aggressively counter Donald Trump and his lies as the former president continues to shape the Republican Party in his own image.

Brzezinski spoke with Molly Jong-Fast Wednesday on Morning Joe, where the two urged Democrats to get “real” about Trump’s words and actions to warn the public of what will happen if he gets re-elected. As Jong-Fast spoke about how Trump will be able to flood the zone with lies if Democrats don’t counteract them, Brzezinski agreed by pointing to similar dangers from Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) and all of the other “mini-Trumps” in the GOP.

Brzezinski: There’s always the issue. ‘We don’t want to go negative. We don’t want to go ugly.’ When you’re running against Donald Trump, just go real. Just use what material Donald Trump has provided, put it in proper context, and give people information about what will be happening if he gets another term. I think that would be enough, and I think Democrats need to pound away at the dangers of Donald Trump, using Donald Trump’s own words against him, and actions.

Jong-Fast: Oh, no question. And I think that there’s a vacuum. When mainstream media does not cover a subject, there becomes a vacuum. And Trump and his people get into social media and they spread stuff. And if there isn’t a fair amount of debunking, you will see these lies go again and again and again.

Brzezinski: And talk about spreading. You can also cover the mini-Trumps. Tommy Tuberville, the new speaker of the House. They’re all mini-Trump’s, all Republicans caught in a cult that honestly, Republicans that you know in your life, you can’t recognize these Republicans. This is all out there, and it’s accurate information that can be used against him that Trump has amassed over the course of 4 to 8 years, and he has given the Democrats on a silver platter. Take it and run with it!

With the 2024 election getting closer, Jong-Fast argued that the Biden administration needs to stop being “aggressively boring” to take credit for their accomplishments and shape the narrative before Trump does it for them.
