Mika Brzezinski Warns Dems Not to ‘Get Into the Gutter’: Trump Wants a Brawl…He ‘Thrives on Chaos’
On Thursday, Mika Brzezinski cautioned Democrats not to lower themselves and give President Trump what he wants ahead of the midterm elections.
There were multiple moments of Morning Joe today when Brzezinski argued that Trump bears responsibility for the climate that led to the ongoing campaign of suspicious packages being sent out around the country. As Brzezinski spoke to New York City mayor Bill de Blasio about this, she once again remarked that Trump’s rhetoric made it “inevitable” that top Democrats and the media would be targeted.
At one point, Brzezinski acknowledged her own “highly reactive” commentary and warned that Democrats mustn’t drop civility in political discourse since Trump would be the one who benefits if they “get into the gutter” with him.
“We know what Trump wants before the mid-terms is a brawl, a battle of conspiracy theories, unhinged accusations and violent rude behavior. Democrats don’t do it. Pull back. Don’t try to intimidate Republicans when they are at public places like restaurants. Don’t do it…That’s what he wants. That’s what he wanted during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings and he got exactly what he wanted, and we gave it to him to an extent. These bombs sow chaos. Trump thrives on chaos. Democrats can win by doing the right thing. We may have to lose badly for a while before we win in the right way, but we can’t win in the wrong way.”
