MSNBC Guest Reminds Viewers With Flow Chart: ‘KLAN IS BAD’

Morning Joe tackled President Donald Trump’s pardon of former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio, who was convicted of criminal contempt of court in a racial profiling case.

The panel watched a clip of an interview from 2007 in which Arpaio was asked about comparisons between his department and the KKK — and shockingly replied “I think it is an honor, right? Means we’re doing something.”

As the MSNBC panel reacted to the statement, Commentary Editor Noah Rothman pinned Trump’s pardoning of Arpaio on the tribal nature of politics. On Arpaio’s comments about the KKK, Rothman claimed people might find his comments appealing because they are “transgressive.”

“And that’s sort of the nature of this political moment, is transgression is its own reward and its own value,” he continued. “As long as you’re making news, and irritating the other guy, and liberal tears and what have you, this sort of shallow nonsense, is its own good.”

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough chimed in, adding “it’s sort of like being the Alice Cooper of politics.”

“It’s the political equivalent of biting a head off a bat,” Rothman agreed.

To conclude, New York Times reporter and frequent Morning Joe guest Nick Confessore displayed a helpful graphic he had drawn on a piece of paper, showing “KLAN -> BAD.”

“Klan is bad, they’re not good, bad,” Confessore said.
