News Crew Happens Upon Woman Giving Birth on NYC Sidewalk

A Fox 5 news team was on its way to a story when it pulled over to see what all the commotion was about on an Upper East Side street corner. What they found: a woman giving birth on the corner of 68th and 3rd.

The woman and her doorman had been trying to hail a cab to the hospital when, according to witnesses, she shouted, “Oh, my God, the baby’s coming.” Several passersby stopped to help, and her husband arrived within minutes to see the birth, which happened right there on the sidewalk.

The Fox 5 team captured part of the drama on camera, before the woman was led, smiling, into an ambulance. She and her newborn daughter are reportedly doing well in the hospital.
