Noonan: Bush’s ‘Mysterious’ Iraq Answer Ensures More Questions About His Brother
Conservative columnist Peggy Noonan was as befuddled as the rest of god’s wide expanse over 2016 hopeful Jeb Bush’s answer(s) about whether he would have invaded Iraq, a question it took Bush upwards of five tries to answer. She did, however, point out that he is taking questions, unlike a certain Democratic candidate.
“He seemed consistently taken aback by the asking of a question ayone could have told you two years ago was going to be a primary question of the primary time,” Noonan said on Face the Nation Sunday morning. “It was difficult for him in ways that were almost mysterious.”
Bush was asked by Fox’s Megyn Kelly whether he would have invaded Iraq as his brother did. He answered affirmatively, later said he misheard, then declared hypothetical questions off-limits, and finally said no.
“Because I think he showed such discomfort in his answers, he sort of opened up the possibility that this will only be the beginning of many questions about things your brother did, would you have done them,” Noonan said.
Noonan did give Bush credit for fielding questions, even if it was the same one multiple times, which she contrasted to Hillary Clinton’s “silent movie” of a campaign.
