‘Oh My God, Please!’ House Democrat Confronts Mike Johnson Over Trump’s Comments to Generals

Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-PA) confronted Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) in the halls of Congress and asked him what House Republicans are doing to rein in President Donald Trump.

During the exchange, Johnson appeared to concede Dean’s claim that Trump is “unhinged” and “unwell.”

On Tuesday, Trump addressed a room full of the U.S. military’s top brass in Virginia. The president gave a rambling speech that rehashed old grievances against his political foes. At one point, he complained that he may never receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

“They’ll give it to some guy that didn’t do a damn thing,” Trump told the room full of generals and other high-ranking military officials. “They’ll give it to a guy that wrote a book about the mind of Donald Trump and what it took to solve the wars and the Nobel Prize will go to a writer.”

Later on Tuesday, Dean caught up with Johnson at the Capitol. She told the speaker that Trump is “unhinged” and “unwell,” to which Johnson replied, “A lot of folks on your side are too.”:

DEAN: The president is unhinged. He is unwell. What are you–

JOHNSON: A lot of folks on your side are too. I don’t control–

DEAN: Oh my God, please! That performance in front of the generals?

JOHNSON: I didn’t see it.

DEAN: That is so dangerous. You know I serve on Foreign Affairs and Appropriations. This is a collision of those two things. Our allies are looking elsewhere. Our enemies are laughing.

JOHNSON: I just left the–

DEAN: You have a president–

DEAN: You have a president who is unwell.

Elsewhere in their exchange, Johnson said that Trump sharing an AI video of congressional Democratic leadership wearing a sombrero as mariachi music played “wasn’t my style.”
