Oops: Think You’ve Got The Wrong Ron Johnson, Today Show
Early this morning on NBC, the Today Show kicked off its story about ousted JCPenney CEO Ron Johnson by showing a photo of a very different Ron Johnson, the Republican senator from Wisconsin.
Anchor Natalie Morales reported the news of the CEO’s short tenure ending at retail giant JCPenney apparently without noticing the error made by the Today Show‘s graphics department. A Google image search for the name “Ron Johnson” reveals their slight visual similarities (that’s Sen. Ron Johnson on the left and former CEO Ron Johnson on the right).
But the confusion must be common enough that in a regular old web search, Google does helpfully explain the difference between the two Johnsons:
Sen. Ron Johnson made news recently when he found himself in a heated back and forth with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during her Senate hearings on Benghazi. Like any politician, he was probably not thrilled to have his photo appear directly above the word “ousted” on national television this morning.
