‘Our Hearts Ache for You’ Biden Speaks at Memorial for Slain NYPD Officer

Vice President Joe Biden spoke this morning at the memorial of slain NYPD Officer Rafael Ramos and expressed his heartfelt condolences for the families of both Ramos and fellow officer Wenjian Liu. He started out by telling Ramos’ family, “Our hearts ache for you.”

Biden drew from his own past to tell them he knows the pain of losing loved ones, and said they’ll know everything will be all right when the thought of Ramos “will bring a smile to your lips” before bringing a tear to the eye.

The vice president also spoke in praise of the NYPD overall, calling it “the finest police department in the world.” He emphasized the great risk and sacrifice officers make every day when they put on their uniform to protect and serve.
