Piers Morgan Reportedly Ending Show in 3 Weeks; Tapper and Bill Weir to Sub

Piers Morgan is reportedly ending his CNN show in three weeks, and Bill Weir and Jake Tapper will fill in as substitutes thereafter. This seems to confirm what Mediaite had reported last fall.
Back then, our editor-in-chief Andrew Kirell reported, via CNN sources, that Weir was being courted as a replacement for Morgan in the 9 p.m. time-slot. While that was true at the time, we have heard from network insiders that Weir shot two pilots, receiving “mixed reviews,” which may explain why the network is unwilling to commit to him at this time.
This latest report came via POLITICO’s Dylan Byers, who wrote that Morgan will be off for the week of March 17th, during which time Weir will fill in, and then Morgan will return the next week for the final leg of the show. Tapper will afterwards temporarily occupy the 9 P.M. slot.
Last month CNN confirmed our reporting that they would be phasing out Morgan’s primetime show, and now CNN will also be trying out other experiments in primetime over the next few months.
