Richard Lewis To Olbermann: Herman Cain Would Be ‘Lucky To Be A Doorman’

Comedian Richard Lewis appeared on Current TV’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann Monday evening and said scandal-laden Republican candidate Herman Cain would be lucky to be a doorman, calling his performance in the Republican race “humiliating.”

“As an American, I’m depressed, as a comedian, it’s hard to split the difference. I’m a patriot, man,” Lewis said about the current crop of Republican presidential contenders. “I want, you know — this is disgusting. This is like the new Christy’s Minstrels, it’s like a silly muppet show!”

“Or a parade going by,” Olbermann added.

“Yeah, I mean, look. This whole things that’s been going on. Cain — you know, the big deal he had was with the Godfather’s,” Lewis observed, drawing attention to the politically-wounded candidate. “But with all these things going on, he’s lucky to be, I don’t know, a doorman. Bada-bing! He’s gone.”

“Well, I think that may be the next job,” snarked Olbermann. “He has some experience in this area, apparently.”

Lewis went on to explain why he was a Democrat, saying they were “more humane” and “they cared more about the middle class and the people who have nothing.”
