Rick Perry Gets the Dreaded Iraq War Question
Now that Rick Perry is an official 2016 presidential candidate, he has to appear on Morning Joe, the number one talk show for mid-range presidential candidates. And during that appearance this morning, Perry got “knowing what we know now’d”.
After some prodding over whether he had a rivalry with the Bush family, Joe Scarborough got Perry to say that he admired George W. Bush as a president, setting him up perfectly for the dreaded question: “Was it a mistake to go into Iraq?”
“I think going into Iraq was a decision that, knowing what I know today, I would not have gone into Iraq,” Perry replied, indicating that we should now distill that talking point into its abbreviation, KWWKT.
Perry then turned the question into: “Knowing what we know today, would Secretary [Hillary] Clinton and President [Barack] Obama have pulled out of Iraq in 2011? That decision, that I will suggest to you was probably made in 2009, has been tragic.”
