Rihanna Opens the VMAs With an Epic Throwback Performance
Rihanna opened MTV’s 2016 Video Music Awards in a way only she could. The Video Vanguard Award recipient performed a throwback medley, dancing to “Don’t Stop The Music,” and then singing pieces of “Only Girl (In The World)” and “We Found Love.” This was the first of her performances- she’ll be back three more times tonight.
The singer is also up for awards tonight. She was nominated twice for Best Collaboration Video: “This Is What You Came For” with Calvin Harris and “Work,” her song with with Drake are both in the running. She’s also up for the Best Female Video award for “Work.”
Rihanna’s performances have been some of the most talked about of the awards- Jesse Ignjatovic, the executive producer of the show said that her medley would be “one of those holy crap VMA moments.”
We can’t wait for performances two, three and four.
