Rob Ford Says He’s Seeking Professional Help, Pledges to Fight for Reelection

Following a tumultuous week of leaked videos, lewd press conferences, and contentious city council meetings, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford told Fox News in an exclusive interview that he was seeking professional help, but refused to call himself an alcoholic or a drug addict, and pledged to continue to fight against “left-wing, tax-and-spend socialists in City Hall.”

“I’ve admitted to using illegal drugs in the last year, I’ve admitted to drinking too much, okay?” Ford said. “So I’m dealing with it, I’m training every day. I’m in a gym for two hours every day. I’m seeking professional help. I’m not an alcoholic, I’m not a drug addict. Have I had my outbursts in the past? Absolutely, I have. But I’m only human. I’ve made mistakes, I’ve apologized. That’s all I can do.”

Despite being stripped of many of his powers by the Toronto City Council last week, Ford pledged to begin his reelection campaign for next year.

“I’m going to continue to fight for the little guy,” Ford promised. “I’m gonna continue to save taxpayers money. And if the councilors want to strip all of my powers, that’s up to them. But the people haven’t spoken yet.”
