SNL Reveals First Hosts for 40th Anniversary Season

Saturday Night Live is entering its landmark 40th season this month, and on Wednesday the show announced its first slate of hosts and musical guests. Fresh off his star turn in the summer’s number one box office hit Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris Pratt will host the season premiere on Saturday, September 27. He will be joined by musical guest Ariana Grande.

Then, on October 4, recent Emmy Award-winner and proud pot smoker Sarah Silverman will make her hosting debut more than 20 years after she served as a writer and featured player on the show during the 1993-1994 season. For that week, Maroon 5 will serve as musical guest, and frontman Adam Levine will almost definitely get a chance to show off one or more of his musical impressions.

Not yet officially announced but heavily rumored is the triumphant return of Bill Murray, who spent three seasons on the show from 1977-1980 and is a member of the five-timers club, but has not hosted since 1999.

Murray new film St. Vincent will be released on October 24 so an SNL hosting slot some time next month would make promotional sense. We shall see…
