‘Penelope Cruz’ And Sofia Vergara Hilariously Attempt To Film A Shampoo Commercial On SNL

SNL’s time allocation was weird tonight! One of the more clever sketches came right at the end of the night, with Sofia Vergara playing herself on the set for a new Pantene commercial (this was especially amusing after seeing Vergara appear in no fewer than four commercials shilling different projects. She’s the spokeswoman for everything!). Her costar for the commercial was Penelope Cruz, played by new cast member Kate McKinnon.

Cruz and Vergara traded lines in the commercial, with Vergara getting all the easy words and Cruz being stuck with all the science-y stuff, which was of course rendered indecipherable through her thick accent. It was cool to see a new cast member anchoring a sketch, even if it did come at the end of the night. You can watch Cruz and Vergara muddle through the commercial below, via NBC:
