Stormy Daniels’ Attorney: ‘I’ve Not Received a Single Interview Request From Fox News’
Michael Avenatti, the attorney for Stormy Daniels, has been a fixture on cable and broadcast news over the past couple of weeks since Daniels filed a lawsuit stating the non-disclosure agreement she signed with Donald Trump in exchange for $130,000 in hush money was invalid. But it appears one network hasn’t been all that interested in bringing him on.
Appearing on MSNBC’s The Beat today to discuss the latest developments in the Stormy scandal — notably, Trump attorney Michael Cohen accusing Daniels of violating the hush agreement and filing for $20 million in damages — Avenetti was asked by host Ari Melber to respond to criticism that his client’s story was “tabloid fodder.”
“Your response, Michael?” Melber pressed the attorney after playing a Fox News clip dismissing coverage of Daniels.
“Well, Ari, I’ve been invited to give interviews to literally hundreds of media outlets around the world, what is shocking to me is, I haven’t received a single request, not one, from Fox News,” Avenatti said. “They’ve reached out to me for copies of documents and things of that nature, and we’ve cooperated with them. But I’ve not received a single interview request from Fox News.”
A stunned Melber wanted to know if he was saying “there’s not a single anchor on Fox News that wants to go toe to toe with you,” wondering aloud if Avenatti believes “they’re afraid of this story.”
“I don’t know what it is,” the attorney snarked. “My feelings are hurt that they don’t want to hear from me.”
“That’s well put,” Melber laughed.
Avenatti went on to address his previous claim that Daniels had been physically threatened over the NDA, adding that he has reason to believe that Trump was aware of the threats. Cohen has denied that he issued physical threats against Daniels.
We have reached out to Fox News for comment on Avenatti’s remarks that the network hasn’t reached out to him for an interview.
