Tearful Israeli Calls Hamas’ Murder of His 8-Year-Old Daughter a ‘Blessing’: ‘She Was Either Dead Or in Gaza’
An Israeli father told CNN’s Clarissa Ward that the murder of his 8-year-old daughter was a “blessing” compared to her being taken hostage in Gaza during a segment that aired on Wednesday.
Thomas Hand’s daughter Emily spent the night before the attack at a friend’s house on a kibbutz in southern Israel where over 100 civilians were murdered on Saturday. She was killed while Hand remained pinned down at their home for 12 hours.
He recalled the moment when he found out she had been killed thusly:
They just said ‘We found Emily. She’s dead.’ And I went ‘Yes!’ I went ‘Yes!’ and smiled cause that is the best news of the possibilities that I knew. That was the best possibility that I was hoping for. She was either dead or in Gaza, and if you know anything about what they do to people in Gaza, that is worse than death, that is worse than death. The way they treat you, they’d have no food, they’d have no water. She’d be in a dark room filled with Christ knows how many people and terrified every minute, hour, day, and possible years to come. So death was a blessing, an absolute blessing.
After surveying the carnage at the kibbutz, Ward remarked that while over 100 bodies had been recovered, many more were missing — indicating that they may have been dragged back to Gaza the way Hand feared his daughter had been.
“You can see the amount of blood, this was a massacre,” declared Ward while walking through a home torn apart by gunfire. “The full scale of the horrors that transpired here are just starting to come to light,” she continued.
It is estimated that Hamas took somewhere around 150 Israelis as hostages back to Gaza. President Joe Biden has confirmed that American citizens are also being held by the terrorist group.
