The Aflac Duck Is Dead. Long Live The Aflac Duck!

By now, you’re all probably familiar with the fact that Alfac Insurance fired comedian Gilbert Gottfried – the iconic voice of the Aflac duck – after he Tweeted a series of insensitive jokes about the recent disasters in Japan. Which means, of course, that their mascot is without a distinctive, grating voice urging viewers to paw at their remotes whilst yelling obscenities.

For the record: Gottfried is taking his dismissal in stride. Kind of. (NSFW due to language.)

If their new commercial is any indication, the company is looking forward to making a new start… Or do you think we might be reading too much into the symbolism of a train running over the hapless (and silent) duck?

In any case, the commercial asks interested viewers to try out to become the duck’s new voice. Interested?
