‘This is Really Serious’: Fox’s Bret Baier Worried by Democrats’ ‘Disappointing’ Support for Socialism

Fox News’ Bret Baier expressed his deep concern over Democrats’ “disappointing” support for socialism on Wednesday during a discussion about the New York City mayoral race and Zohran Mamdani, the self-professed socialist expected to prevail in it.

After playing a clip of NBC’s Steve Kornacki diving into a poll showing that “two-thirds of Democrats nationally” have a favorable view of socialism, anchor Harris Faulkner mused that she didn’t know “if they actually know what socialism is in some cases,” before turning the floor over to Baier.

“Yeah, and it’s disappointing when you look at some of those polls about where people talk about socialism, even though if you ask the question: ‘Give me a country where socialism has worked,’ you know, there’s not an answer. And, ‘Give me a city where it’s really worked,’ there’s not an answer,” argued Baier. “So, listen, I think that there’s a lot of Republicans that are weighing into this race from afar, saying this is going to be great for the Republican Party to hang it around candidates in purple states later on. But there’s people in New York here waking up to, this is really serious. This is a serious moment as you close in on Election Day.”

Baier went on to say that he believes Mamdani will win next month’s election, and to express concern over how Mamdani will handle the police and issues of public safety.

“I’m not sure Mamdani has fully answered what that looks like,” said Baier. “He smiles a lot through it. He says he’s going to, you know, work with all kinds of people, but I’m not sure his past statements equal what he’s saying currently.”
