Triumph Reveals Brian Williams Jokes the Today Show Wouldn’t Let Him Tell

When Triumph the Insult Comic Dog stopped by the Today show last week to plug his new Adult Swim show with Jack McBrayer, he let loose some killer jokes about NBC’s hosts and ratings. But there were apparently several lines the network didn’t let him say on air, notably the ones about suspended anchor Brian Williams.

So when Triumph and McBrayer were on Conan last night, the puppet decided to share some of his more controversial material, including this one about Conan O’Brien‘s recent trip to Cuba: “I thought after you left NBC, you would never want to return to a crumbling dictatorship.”

But it was the Williams jokes that must have really bothered NBC. After making one innocuous analogy about Jon Stewart and Williams both being “fake news anchors,” Triumph moved on to one that referenced the suspended host’s daughter’s shocking scene from the Girls season premiere.

“You know, it’s been a rough year, not just for Brian but for his daughter Allison from the show Girls,” Triumph said, “what with the two of them both getting their asses chewed out at work.”
