True Blood Star Actress Fires Back at Sarah Palin

The True Blood–Sarah Palin saga continues.

Kristin Bauer van Straten of the hit HBO vampire show responded on Saturday to recent comments by Palin, who wasn’t happy with a recent episode of the show that included a crass line about Republican women.

“She’ll weigh in on everything,” Van Straten said while speaking at Comic-Con in San Diego, according to Deadline Hollywood. “It’s sweet many, many years later that I’ve made her angry, I had fun doing it.”

In the True Blood episode, a fundraiser for real-life Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) is crashed, with victims inside bitten by vampires. HBO confirmed it had asked Palin representatives if the former Alaska governor would appear in a cameo for the episode.

“The brilliant minds of ‘True Blood’ were brazen enough to ask me to do a cameo on their show, apparently so they could insult a conservative woman in person instead of just all conservative women in general,” Palin said about the offer. “Their offer wasn’t presented in any negative way, perhaps to benefit from a surprise factor after the guest appearance. I turned them down anyway.”
