Trump Deems Ilhan Omar ‘A Disgusting Person’ for Reposting Video Calling Charlie Kirk ‘Reprehensible’

President Donald Trump blasted Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) over her response to the shooting death of Charlie Kirk last week.

Omar condemned the shooting and said, “All I could think about was his wife, his children.” But conservatives have pounced on her criticisms of the conservative influencer since the shooting. One Republican member of Congress has introduced a resolution that would strip her of her committee assignments.

On Monday, Trump took questions from reporters in the Oval Office, where Brian Glenn of Real America’s Voice asked the president about a possible reprimand.

“Ilhan Omar, after his assassination, called Charlie Kirk ‘a reprehensible human being,'” Glenn said. “Should she be stripped of her committee assignments?”

Glenn appeared to be referring to a viral video that Omar reposted in which the creator called Kirk “a reprehensible human being.”

“I would’ve,” Trump replied. “I think she’s a disgraceful person. You know, I think she’s a disgraceful person, a loser. It’s amazing the way people vote– I know it’s people from her area, maybe all over the world. They got here, and they vote her in. It’s hard to believe, but I think she’s a disgusting person.”

Omar immigrated to the U.S. from Kenya after she fled her native Somalia in the early 1990s to escape the civil war there.

Last year, Kirk seized on comments by Omar to claim she is more loyal to Somalia than the U.S. and that she should be deported.

“Ilhan Omar never should’ve been allowed to serve in the U.S. Congress,” Kirk said at the time. “She speaks like a sleeper cell. People need to learn what a sleeper cell is. She should be denaturalized, and she should be deported back to where she came from.”
