Trump Falsely Claims 100K New Jersey Rally Goers Can’t Protest Trial Because It’s ‘An Armed Camp Outside’
Former President Donald Trump lamented that the 100,000 rallygoers who attended his weekend event in Wildwood, New Jersey aren’t protesting his hush money trial in Lower Manhattan.
As Senators JD Vance and Tommy Tuberville looked on in attendance, Trump falsely called Lower Manhattan an “armed camp” and blamed that for the reason why so few pro-Trump protestors have shown up on his behalf.
On Monday’s pre-trial rant before the expected bombshell testimony of former fixer-turned-vocal critic Michael Cohen, the former president offered the same bromides of a corrupt judge and Fox News contributors who agree with him, before turning to the security surrounding him.
“Because what this judge is getting away with is disgraceful, including the fact that we have thousands of people and 100,000 people in New Jersey. They would like to show their support,” Trump offered. “It’s like an armed camp outside. You can’t get one person within three blocks of this courthouse.”
It is NOT like an armed camp outside the courthouse where Trump’s criminal trial for alleged election fraud is taking place.
There is some security in the few blocks comprising the many courthouses in that part of New York City, but the area is easy to access by subway, car, or even by foot. I have — foolishly, I might add — driven through the area where the trial takes place and had zero problems getting through, apart from typical traffic issues.
As Trump wrapped his statement, a reporter could be heard yelling, “Why Hannibal Lecter?” whom Trump jokingly labeled a “great man” during his weekend rally.
