TV Anchor on Shark Footage: ‘I Am Never Going Back Into the Water’

Australian television anchor Karl Stefanovic proved yet again that he is his country’s most valued viral treasure when his reaction to footage of a gigantic great white shark circled the online globe on Monday.

Stefanovic has entertained the Internet before, what with his reaction to Grumpy Cat and his yearlong one-suit-wearing stunt to highlight viewers’ sexism, but Monday’s footage is great for how little the anchor manages to say. That’s because he’d just finished watching a clip from a recent Discovery Channel special about great whites, and the selected clip highlight a slow motion shot of a monstrously-sized specimen.

The short conversation between Stefanovic and fellow anchor Lisa Wilkinson speaks volumes:

Stefanovic: I am never going back into the water.

Wilkinson: Me neither. No way.

Stefanovic: That’s it. That’s the biggest thing I’ve ever seen.

Wilkinson: Stuff summer.

Stefanovic: No, let’s go to the local pool… Look at the size of that thing!
