CNN: Wall Street Workers ‘Empathize And Understand’ Occupy Wall Street Protest
From the New York Stock Exchange this morning, CNN’s Alison Kosik reports that Wall Street’s workers “truly empathize and understand” Occupy Wall Street’s frustrations because they too are are feeling the effects of gridlock in Washington and a down economy. “They’re equally frustrated as the folks out there on the park are right now” Kosik says.
“The traders I talked to, they want the protestors to understand they’re getting hit hard in this economy as well,” she continued. “They’re facing layoffs in the tens of thousands in the financial industry.”
As Kosik describes it, traders understand that they are not Occupy Wall Street’s target, despite being the face of Wall Street. “They understand that the New York Stock Exchange is the symbol of American capitalism,” Kosik reports, adding that, “The traders say they understand the protesters need a place to go to air their grievances.”
