WATCH: Fox & Friends Gets Icy as Campos-Duffy Seethes at Hegseth for Reveling in Clip of DeSantis Getting Trolled
Fox News’ Rachel Campos-Duffy took issue with the amusement Pete Hegseth got from a prankster who trolled Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ahead of the Iowa caucuses.
In a tense moment on Fox & Friends Sunday, Campos-Duffy, Hegseth, and Will Cain covered the viral moment when a heckler derailed DeSantis’ town hall by presenting him with a participation trophy and sarcastically celebrated the governor as “our little snowflake.” The gag was clearly directed at the fact that DeSantis is desperate for an upset against Donald Trump and Nikki Haley amid polls showing that the former president is far ahead of his primary rivals.
While Hegseth found the stunt “hilarious,” Campos-Duffy revealed that her co-host shared that clip with her before the show, and she was far less entertained.
Pete sent this clip to me, and he was like, ‘Isn’t this funny?’ I said, ‘Actually, I don’t think it’s funny,’ because I think — and I love you Pete — I’ve been a candidate’s spouse, so I can put myself in Casey DeSantis‘ shoes there. It is cold as you know what, and you’re campaigning. You’re doing your best, and I just think this kind of unnecessary humiliation is unnecessary.
“He’s doing his best, so he got a participation trophy,” Hegseth said, laughing as he defended the clip. Campos-Duffy responded by calling the incident “unnecessary trolling of good public servants trying to do the right thing, campaign, and I don’t like it.”
Not to be left out of the awkward moment, Cain openly mused why his co-hosts didn’t share the footage with him before the show.
