Watch Jimmy Fallon And Will Smith Hilariously Unearth Their ‘Jiggy’ 1920s Songs
Will Smith stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and to the audience’s delight, was notified that his grandfather actually did a radio show with Fallon’s grandfather in the studio.
“They were an old-timey jazz duo,” Fallon explained. “It was back in the ’20s. They were called Fallon and Smith. Will ‘Sunnyside’ Smith and my grandfather, James ‘Fatty Monroe’ Fallon.”
“And this is crazy!” he continued. “But NBC just found long-lost footage of them recording one of their radio shows.”
“Wow!” Smith interjected.
“And it seems like our grandfathers’ songs had a pretty big influence on your music career,” Fallon observed.
When Fallon rolled the old kinescope tape, Sunnyside and Fatty Monroe began cranking out the old-timey jams like “Parents Just Don’t Understand” and “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” — albeit with a raucous, old-timey feel.
“Hot peanuts!” shouted out Sunnyside.
