‘Why?!’ Fox Contributor Reacts to Anchor Saying There’s ‘Nobody Better’ to Discuss Senate Sex Tape Than Him
Days after a staffer for Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) was fired for making a sex tape in a Senate hearing room, someone was going to have to come to Fox News to talk about it. The man for the job? Fox News contributor and chief political correspondent for The Washington Examiner Byron York!
But when York was told by Fox News anchor John Roberts on Monday that there was “nobody better” to talk about the staffer’s racy side hustle than him, he took some mild offense to that. Here’s the exchange:
Roberts: NBC News has come under fire on social media over a headline that seems to fault conservative media outlets for reporting that a Democrat Senate staffer filmed a gay sex video in a Capitol Hill hearing room. Byron York is the chief political correspondent for The Washington Examiner, a Fox News contributor, and nobody better to tackle this than you, my friend.
York: Why?!
Roberts: Because [Democratic campaign strategist and Fox contributor] Kevin Walling didn’t want to do it.
But York shouldn’t be so humble because as he proved to Roberts, he knows a lot about… the Senate hearing room where this sexual act took place:
York: Well, look, this was this was pretty embarrassing, obviously. I mean, what happens is this aide and companion go to Hart 216. It’s a big hearing room —
Roberts: 9/11 commission.
York: Big hearing room —
Roberts: Supreme Court nominees —
York: If you’ve seen all the really famous things that the president does like — that the Senate does like confirming Supreme Court nominees — they do it in Hart 216. So it’s kind of a famous place. They have a sexual act, which they record on video and then post it on the internet. And amazingly enough, it’s found out. So this is clearly I don’t know if it’s against the law. It’s clearly against Senate rules. The — and the staffer didn’t —
Roberts: To say the least.
York: — stay in his job for very long.
York said it himself: “They do it in Hart 216.” And they did! Byron York should not sell himself short.
